Mobile application od the County of Istria

The County of Istria, in cooperation with IT expert Tomo Krajina, has developed a free mobile application. The application was created for the Croatian section of the Parenzana, from Poreč to the Plovanija–Sečovlje border crossing. With the introduction of the mobile application, the existing offer has been upgraded and, in order to make it more attractive to users, we’ve introduced a special challenge.

The goal is to visit selected points of interest, attractions and sites along the Parenzana route and, depending on the attraction, travel up to a maximum of 5 km in one direction and check in at that location. Cyclists and walkers who create a profile in the mobile application and visit 7 out of 13 checkpoints, or who, without registering in the application, visit 5 photo spots, acquire the status of “Friend of Parenzana”, together with the discounts and benefits that come with it.

The application also contains useful information for Parenzana visitors, such as a list of specialised services provided by Bike & Bed facilities, bicycle repair services, e-bike charging stations and bicycle rental services. Through a simple search, users can select restaurants, taverns, agritourism farms, Istrian winemakers, olive oil producers and organic agricultural producers. All listed entities are located within a maximum distance of 5 km (straight-line) from the Parenzana route.
