Water restriction of the first degree has been introduced in the County of Istria

Based on the conclusions from the meeting of the Istrian President Boris Miletić with the mayors and directors of the waterworks held on Friday 15 July in Pula, in Istria is in force the first level of water restriction, i.e. the ban on the use of potable water for washing vehicles, streets, squares and public areas as well as private and public green areas, and showering on beaches and swimming pools.

The decision is applied since Monday 18 July, and the measure was adopted due to extremely unfavorable hydrological conditions and unfavorable yield of water sources in the water supply system of Istria County, and with the aim of sustainability and stability of the water supply system. Significant precipitation in the area of Istria that would improve the hydrological situation is not expected in the next month. In addition, it was announced that Croatia will be hit by a new heat wave this week, so the drought could last even longer, and the need for water will be greater.
