ISTRIA WINE & WALK
Brtonigla Tourist Board
The event is a combination of gastronomy and active vacation, the first of its kind in Croatia. It consists of an 11 km long hike through vineyards and olive groves in the area of Buje and Brtonigla. Every 2 kilometres the participants are greeted by Istrian winemakers and other local producers with gastronomic delicacies and fine wines.
After registering and getting your tasting glass and a trail map, a mini-bus takes you to the first point, the famous half-century-old vineyard Santa Lucia. This is a starting point for eno-recreation through vineyards and olive groves of northwestern Istria. The next point is the Kaštanjer lookout with a view of the mountain peaks of Ćićarija and the sea in the distance, followed by an exhibition at the Tigor Gallery, Škarline Nature Park, with unique little streams and lakes, and two wine cellars near Brtonigla. As part of the event, there is also a mini-fair of wine and local products. The organizers of the event take special care of waste management and use of environmentally friendly, biodegradable materials (cutlery, packaging, etc.), as well as environmentally responsible and economically sustainable printing materials (ecologically sustainable graphic technology, less printed materials, etc.).
